Summary

Develops, implements and maintains necessary policies, programs, procedures, reports, recordkeeping, and training to comply with federal, state, and local safety, health and environmental regulations for a manufacturing facility of 200
employees.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, maintains, and manages programs and policies for monitoring and preventing physical, chemical, and biological hazards at the facilities such as the safety, environmental, and health programs.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local laws in regards to environment, health, and safety matters including executing internal compliance auditing.
  • Responsible for investigating and evaluating all new incoming materials to maintain compliance and assess safety risks.
  • Will manage the permitting requirements for the facility.
  • Responsible for managing the local risk programs and writing corresponding risk procedures in areas such as Contingency and Disaster Recovery Programs, air quality evaluations, hazard assessment, OSHA, EPA, NCDENR, DOT, etc.
  • Responsible for Hazardous Waste management, documentation, and communication.
  • Responsible for all the health, safety, and environmental training for the site.
  • Provides compliant operational solutions for metal processing with regard to safety and compliance issues.
  • Performs or coordinates field and safety measurements and evaluations.
    Makes recommendations to management regarding new resources/compliance issues and budgeting matters.
    Responsible for executing safety related capital expenditure requests.
  • Provides technical guidance to management and employees regarding health-related problems and the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE), clothing or accessories.
  • Maintains all OSHA logs.
  • Implements Automatic External Defibrillator program and protocols.
  • Leads First Responders team and ensures their training is up-to-date.
  • Provides annual Industrial Hygiene Surveys.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures, including safety requirements.
    Provides corporate EHS metric data from the site for rollup reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned to ensure customer and regulatory needs are met.

Qualifications

Minimum Education Required:
Bachelor of Science in Safety, Health, and Environmental studies or related disciplines.
A thorough knowledge of OSHA and EPA guidelines.

Minimum Years of Experience Required:
Five (5) to ten (10) years working in a manufacturing environment in an Environmental, Health, and Safety capacity.

Physical Requirements:
Work may require bending, lifting up to fifty (50) pounds, carrying, sitting, and standing.
